London 2012 Olympics: UK weather could rain ... - BBC World News

Usain Bolt?s bid to underline his status as the world?s fastest man at the London 2012 Olympics could be undermined by heavy showers forecast for the start of the men?s 100m final. Usain Bolt breezes through his first 100m heat with a time of 10.09 seconds (Picture: Reuters) Forecasters have said it is ?touch and go? whether rain will reach the Olympic Park in Stratford by the men?s final at around 9.50pm. ?There?s a risk of some rain coming in from the south about 10pm,? said Paul Mott, a meteorologist with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association. ?Most of the athletics should be dry, but it?ll be a bit touch and go for the 100m final.? Britain?s Andy Murray and Laura Robson are expected to be unaffected by the heavy rain in London today as Wimbledon?s centre court can be covered by its roof. ?I think in the early afternoon we?ll see a bit of sunshine between the showers, but pretty heavy downpours at times,? Mr Mott continued. ?These showers won?t be persistent, they?ll be on and off, but it?ll be pretty wet under foot.? PICTURES : Men?s 100m heats
